Context
The motivation to spend time in fitness and maintianing a healthy lifestyle is on the decrease amongst middle-aged people, especially parents who simply do not have the time to spend a few hours everyweek. Professional commitements and taking care of children are some of the main reasons which prevent paretns from exercising. Hence, we present to you a solution, Ride my city!
Target
The app is target mainly at parents with young children. The app enables parents and their kids to spend some time on a bicycle and also keep track of their positions and stay in touch if neeeded. The app has a child version and parent version with each version specifically customized to the user.
How it works
We first download the app to our smartphones and also in our children's mobile phones. Then we login using a email or Facebook account. Once logged in, the app allows us to choose the parent version or the child version. The child's version has limilted accessibility in the sense that, it would not allow the user to create or modify routes without the parent's permission. The map page is potentially linked to apps such as google maps and Waze. Here, the (parent) user can search for different bicycle routes in their locality and start a trip. The trip includes information such as estimated duration, popular attractions and food options.
Service offered
The app's homepage has a social media tab, where we can interact with the other users in real-time. In case of an emergency, the app allows us to trigger an alarm along with the live GPS tracking.
The 'Route ideas' is linked to apps like TripAdvisor which always users across the platform to give reviews, suggestions and share ideas with each other.
Web interface
Our web interface consists of different apps which through APIs will be linked online. Using internetand gps services, the app will allow real-time access to services. The website will alllow potential users to discover more about the app and allows find links to download it in different platforms.
